1.     Rent a storage locker – if you don’t need to keep it at the house, get it off the premises. Even an unfinished basement needs to be shown uncluttered.

Avoid tablecloths on kitchen and dining tables. These tend to close off the look of the space. Instead, consider a table runner, or two width-wise runners for larger dining tables. This will add a extra pop of colour and contrast to the room.

Touch up grout in bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere else that you have grouted tiles – grout whitener works great for white grout, especially in the showers. For all other grout, clean thoroughly with a peroxide/baking soda mixture (3 parts peroxide to one part baking soda).

Keep the thermostat at a comfortable level for showings – this is not a time to save money on heating and cooling. A home that is too warm in the summer or too cold in the winter will lead buyers to believe that the A/C and furnace do not operate as they should. As well, the more comfortable a buyer is in your home, the more time they will spend there.
